MY STORY

Peyton Bess is a Singer Songwriter located in Nashville, Tennessee. Peyton is a recent 2023 graduate of Belmont University located right in the heart of Nashville. While in University, Peyton has focused on her songwriting, performing around town, and collaborating with classmates in the industry. Peyton grew up listening to Maroon 5, Sara Bareilles, and Adele, so naturally she tends to write heartbreaking ballads. Peyton’s sound is a meld of Ben Rector and Billie Eilish with the heart-wrenching lyrics of Lizzy McAlpine.

Growing up in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Peyton has grown up performing on stage throughout her community. About an hour away from a big city, she performed locally as much as she could. She worked with the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre and Musical Theatre programs throughout middle school and high school in Lexington, KY which she then found her love for singing and performing. In the sixth grade, Peyton began leading worship at her church, Living Water Church, where she had the opportunity to lead band rehearsals, work with Ableton and Planning Center, and get wonderful experience leading a large congregation. All throughout grade school, Peyton was a part of the Kentucky Music Educators Association All-State choir for 7 consecutive years. Peyton has confidently been on a stage singing since she was in kindergarten, so going to school in Nashville to pursue music was an outstanding opportunity for her.

Peyton has been focusing all her time on writing and performing her music around Nashville! Her sound is a perfect blend of her country roots, pop funk, and folk singer songwriter, and she has been perfecting her sound as an artist. She loves to blend her love for folk americana songwriting with the uplifting spirit of alternative pop melodies and rhythms. In the summer of 2021, Peyton had the opportunity to work with New Roots Nashville where she recorded with GRAMMY award winning producer, Matt Leigh, met with industry professionals, and experienced Nashville from a young female independent artist lifestyle. Ever since New Roots, she has been connected in a tight circle of young industry females within the community.

She is in the process of releasing her second single, "rabbit hole" and can't wait to write and release more and more music soon! She has been writing music, creating her brand, and she is ready to take it to the next step in becoming an artist and performer. She’s come a long way from singing Hannah Montana in her second-grade talent show, so Peyton hopes she can have the Best of Both Worlds!
